22 days sober today. I got up at 5 a.m. This morning (and its even Saturday) and went for a long hike with my daughter. I know that weekends are very hard for me, so I had this planned in advance. We spent about 4 hours hiking, taking in nature, and taking pictures. She talked to me about school, her friends, about wanting to begin driving soon, about a lot of things. In the past, I would have slept in as long as I could, got up and nursed a hangover until early afternoon and then started drinking again. I’ve missed out on these conversations for 14 years because of my selfish behavior. I can beat myself up for time lost, but I choose to thank God that I am 22 days sober and I made the decision to quit drinking 22 days ago. There will be many more early morning hikes and talks with my daughter, and if it doesn’t happen, it won’t be because of alcohol. Another step forward.

I’m grateful for your comment, it made my day! Being a role model to my girls is what brought me to soberity.

I’m so happy for you and your daughter. I won’t bemoan my past, I’ll just be so thankful that you and others are finding your way back thanks in part to the 30DSS! And also to your own dedication and work!
    Onward, Sina
