I am interested in knowing if anybody has had high triglycerides and after quitting what the results were. And how long it takes to go down. My triglycerides were 245 and I have to go to the doctor at the end of this month after my 30 days what is the likelihood that my triglycerides will be lower? Also what about weight loss has anyone lost weight significantly in the first 30 days after quitting drinking?

Hi mappel35! I have read in numerous medical articles that alcohol DOES INCREASE triglycerides. That is part of the reason that drinking excessively affects the cardiovascular system. So, I would think your triglyceride level would drop. Regarding weight, as you know, alcohol is sugar, calories, and yeast (not good for us women but it never stopped me (smile) …. so I think you will probably lose weight providing you don’t consume the same amount of calories in food. I figured up a few days ago that I was putting at least 2,000 extra calories a week in my system by drinking so much wine! That’s like adding/eating another whole extra day in the week!! If you are comfortable sharing, let us know how your check-up goes.

My triglycerides were high despite veganism & regular exercise – definitely the alcohol. One of the many reasons to quit. On day 11 & drop about 4 lbs so far. Looking forward to another blood panel to compare the before & after.
