Went to dinner tonight at a friends. Had a large iced tea before going and didn’t anticipate alcohol being offered, because her husband is an alcoholic, but it was. We sat outside and everyone was drinking but me and that was ok. It would have tasted good but it was more important to me to stay true to my commitment to myself for 30 days. I focussed on the conversation. I am proud of myself. Also, we are going on a bit of a holiday and my husband asked me to pick up some of his fave drinks for hotel, something we usually do. I did, no problem. I am not bringing anything for myself as I will still be in my 30. This will be a first holiday without liquor! I can already feel the success! 🙂

I am proud of you too, Tango. The past two weeks I have been traveling a lot, to my niece’s wedding, then my grandson’s birthday party. Although my niece’s parents (my brother and sister-in-law) are very heavy drinkers, I’ve never known my niece to drink, so wasn’t expecting the amount of alcohol at both the rehearsal party and the wedding. Then, it happened again at my grandson’s birthday party. I’ve NEVER seen my daughter-in-law imbibe, and my son very rarely drinks. At this party, however, the alcohol was abundant. The “test” was so apparent, that I just had to laugh to myself. However, abstaining not only made me feel strong and successful, I was able to see why the book calls alcohol “stupid juice”. It is not attractive to be drunk!!
Carry on and stay strong!

I am heading to a weekend long party on my Day 31 and I have decided I don’t care to test the waters so I plan to pass on any alcohol. I am so much happier with how I feel. It is going to be interesting to see how I feel while everyone else is drinking. I would normally be right there with them so it will be the first real time I get a perspective of the stupid juice at work.
