When people who are not addicted see others who can’t quit, of course they just can’t understand. My significant other who is not addicted to anything other than possibly being frustrated with me would say…JUST QUIT!

Of course just quitting is what the end game needs to be for health and overall well being, but drinking truly is more for me than just an activity. It has erupted after countless years of beating myself up, not believing I was good enough, and hurtful things that happened many years ago. I know I have to heal to truly not drink again.

This program has truly helped me, already, in so many ways. I am doing the hard work of actually addressing the real issues. I am also doing it with daily support from my audio book, this forum and the handful of people who know my struggle with alcohol.

I just want to say that after a week of not drinking I know I can continue this path and I am loving how my future looks. I am taking life, day-by-day, and learning to love my beautiful spirit that I had drowned with alcohol for so many years. Looking forward to sobriety for a lifetime. I deserve it…and so do you.

Thank you for that wonderful post. I also feel that “my beautiful spirit has been drowned in alcohol,” but I could never have put it in such powerful language. I’m working hard, on day 8, to thrive in sobriety. I have a long way to go, though. I really, really want to succeed.
